Advanced Hormone, Gut, Blood & DNA Testing

Expert Analysis for Better Health

Get to the root of your symptoms with targeted functional testing and clinical guidance from Sanna Sumner, qualified nutritionist and women’s health specialist.

What is functional laboratory testing, and why does it matter?

Functional lab testing helps uncover the underlying causes of symptoms like fatigue, mood swings, gut issues, hormonal imbalances, and skin conditions. Unlike standard blood tests, these comprehensive panels assess how your body is functioning—providing insights into metabolism, inflammation, detoxification, nutrient absorption, and hormone balance.

Sanna uses these results alongside your medical history, symptoms, and medications to create a clinically-informed and highly personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan—no guesswork, no generic recommendations.

What kinds of tests do you offer?

Depending on your symptoms, we may recommend one or more of the following:

  • Stool test: Assesses digestion, gut microbiome balance, inflammation, pathogens, and absorption markers.

  • DUTCH hormone test: Measures sex hormones (e.g., estrogen, progesterone, testosterone), stress hormones (cortisol), and hormone metabolism patterns—essential for understanding PMS, PCOS, perimenopause, burnout, and more.

  • Blood panel: Identifies nutrient deficiencies (e.g., B12, vitamin D, iron), thyroid issues, inflammation, and metabolic markers.

  • DNA test: Reveals your genetic blueprint for detoxification, hormone processing, vitamin absorption, and optimal diet choices.

  • Breath test: Detects SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) and food intolerances.

  • Saliva or urine tests: Used to assess hormone levels, cortisol rhythms, or detoxification pathways depending on your needs.

Most of these tests can be done at home.

Do I need a test before we start?

Not always. We begin with a detailed health and symptom review. If a test would improve your results or clarify a confusing symptom picture, Sanna will guide you through options. Every test is chosen with a purpose—there’s never a one-size-fits-all protocol

Why do I need a nutritionist to interpret the results?

Lab data alone doesn’t tell the full story. Sanna’s clinical experience is key to interpreting your results in the context of your symptoms, history, medications, and diet. She explains what the results actually mean—and how to use them to improve your health step by step..

How are the tests done — and where?

Many tests are done at home using simple kits (saliva, urine, or stool). Others — like some blood panels — may require a visit to a local lab or mobile phlebotomist. I’ll guide you through every step, including how and where to send your samples.

What labs do you use?

We work with leading, science-based labs including:

  • DUTCH Test

  • Biovis Laboratories

  • Genova Diagnostics

  • Nordic Laboratories

  • Bloedwaardentest (Netherlands)

These labs provide comprehensive, clinically actionable results that go far beyond what’s available through standard testing.

How long does it take to get results?

It varies by test type, but most results are available within 2–4 weeks. Once results are back, we’ll schedule a review session to walk through everything together and update your plan accordingly.

Are these tests included in the program cost?

In some programs — like Rebalance or Radiate — one or two tests are included. Additional testing can be added if needed and will be discussed upfront. I’ll never surprise you with unexpected costs.

Can you help me understand my results?

Absolutely — that’s a big part of what I do. You’ll get a full explanation of your results, what they mean, and how they connect to your symptoms. You’ll leave feeling informed and empowered, not overwhelmed.
